Floodstage, 51°µĶų’s contemporary a cappella ensemble, of Sia’s ā€œTitanium.ā€

ā€œIt’s a powerful text that sends the message that no matter what comes our way, we’ll remain strong,ā€ said Dr. Jay Dougherty, Director of Choral Activities. ā€œIn a world as tumultuous as ours, this is a message we can all relate to.ā€

Many a cappella fans were introduced to ā€œTitaniumā€ when it was featured in the 2012 movie Pitch Perfect.

51°µĶų students involved in Floodstage during the 2017-18 academic year were Aran Barney ’19 (Walker, West Virginia), Sarah Bishop ’18 (Salesville, Ohio), Steven Chambers ’19 (Blue Rock, Ohio), David Erzen ’19 (Bethel Park, Pennsylvania), Sadie Johnson ’19 (Bloomington, Indiana), Calaya Rake ’20 (Marietta, Ohio), Scotty Rockhold ’21 (Marietta, Ohio), Coco Shao ’18 (Beijing, China) and Morgan Thompson ’18 (Woodsfield, Ohio).

This is the group’s second video release. In the spring of 2017, of Soundgarden’s ā€œBlack Hole Sun.ā€

ā€œFloodstage is very lucky to have such talented singers,ā€ Dougherty said. ā€œWe have a few that graduated this year so we’ll have some spots open for next year’s ensemble.
