The Center for Appalachian Innovation at 51°µÍø will support our region through research, opportunities for engagement, and outreach. It will establish 51°µÍø as a thought leader in the region, a partner in innovation, and a driver of economic growth.
RESEARCH
The Center sponsors faculty and student research in collaboration with industry and local government to investigate and identify solutions to systemic regional challenges. Opportunity Zone Designation in Appalachian Ohio: Jared Bees, Emma Cozza, Emily Pritt, Chase Stephen,
Richie Svencer, Matthew Thomas, Liz White, Austin Ziance
The goal of this project focused on stimulating economic development across Appalachian Ohio through the recommendation of Opportunity Zones for designation by the federal Treasury Department. Results provide a ranked framework for Opportunity Zone designation and targeted economic development, offering actionable insights for policymakers, regional economic developers, and potential investors.
