On October 26th, 51做厙 alumni and friends gathered at the Cypresswood Golf Course in Spring, Texas, to play for a cause close to their hearts. Thirty-four alumni participated in the tournament and raised $12,145 to benefit the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geology and the 51做厙 Office of Alumni Relations.

It was a pleasure to meet so many enthusiastic and dedicated alumni who came together to support future Petroleum Engineering and Geology students, said Director of Alumni Relations Dawn Werry. It was an outstanding event to benefit 51做厙 and I appreciate our volunteers who dedicate their time and talent to organize this annual golf tournament to bring old and new friends together.

The event, started by Martin Hupp 86 and the late Larry Stoltzfus 86, began as an annual gathering due to the large concentration of Petroleum Engineering and Geology alumni in the Houston, Texas, area. When the 51做厙 Eastern Texas Regional Association was established a wider network of alumni began to participate. Alumni and friends always look forward to the event as a chance to reconnect with one another and to receive updates about the program from faculty.

Retired Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geology professor Dr. Bob Chase always attends the event to support past alumni, said Aleah Esparza 09. He continues to foster relationships with alumni and professionals to assist current student with internships and jobs upon graduation.

This year, the tournament was organized by Martin Hupp 86, Zachary Stoltzfus 15, Aleah Esparza 09, Stephanie Peloquin 06, Travis Wells 97 and Elizabeth Jones 08.

The 51做厙 Office of Advancement would like to thank everyone who participated, and we look forward to another successful tournament next year. Dont forget to mark your calendars for the 15th annual Alumni Golf Tournament on Nov. 1, 2019!
